Charleston, South Carolina

Posted on 10:30 by kumar
m- Last weekend my mom and I road-tripped down through the marshes of South Carolina to one of the best cities of the south- Charleston. The talented Jess James was hosting her annual "Style Swap" party-this time in Chuck Town.
We couldn't have asked for better weather for our journey down through South Carolina.
King Street. Shopping central. I could spend days on these streets. And I will...
The Michael Mitchell Art Gallery housed Jess' great Style Swap event on this lovely Thursday evening.
Momma Nay and me hanging out at Style Swap. Blog post about the fashion craziness coming soon!
Momma Nay's vintage Vespa bag is extremely trendy and functional and Americana! A win, win, win!
Take a look at the architecture of the city you are visiting when you are trying to figure out what to wear. (Seriously.) Take note of the feel of the city, the vibes the locals are putting off. THEN pick out what to wear. You'll know whats best.
I'll be back soon Charleston. And next time I'm bringing Precious with.

Made in America

Posted on 18:39 by kumar
Just a fun little craft. Something anyone can do. Lately Courtney and I are all about DIY. And I mean really...why not? We love to craft and we love new things...so why not create?
This week's craft: Watch Ring.
Over Christmas break, my friend Abe and I ventured across town to the Raleigh Flea Market on the NC State Fairgrounds. A cornucopia of antiques. Amongst the baskets of random treats, we found an entire metal basket of vintage watch faces. Bada bing.
So....what better to make than a watch ring? This is all you need. Super glue, a ring back
(found at any craft store, I recycled this one from an oldie), and a watch face.
Do I need to give a step by step?
The details can be pretty awesome if you find a good one.
Watch those finger tips. They will become one.
Press, apply, dry.
So... that took two seconds. And now you have a killer ring. Didn't cost more than 4 bucks.

We are all for American products so lets keep them pumpin!
Do it yourself, and make something cool.

Because we're obsessed.

Vote Against

Posted on 21:04 by kumar

Vote Against. May 8th.

Another great community event. I am so lucky to have crossed paths with such great people over the past couple of years living in Raleigh and Wilmington. Watching the progress that my hometown, Raleigh, North Carolina has made over the past couple of years has been truly inspiring. I've watched a city grow on so many different levels and the products that have come out of this sort-of-Renaissance have been pretty progressive for the South. Unfortunately these new forms of progress only reach so far. This is where Curtis Scott comes in..to forward this progress. His campaign: Vote Against.

Vote Against is another campaign for equality asking North Carolinian's to "Vote Against" Amendment One this May 8th. Lead by the great Raleigh photographer Curtis Scott Brown, the Vote Against Campaign takes a snapshot of all of the opposers to the newest amendment affecting our community. This genius campaign truly gives a visual for all of the people that this amendment affects. For a donation of just 20 bucks you can get a Vote Against Shirt and your picture taken by this lovely photographer. Its such a fun, visual way to show who cares!
Definitely check out when the next shoot is close to you.

Local models came out to support the campaign. Michal should always been in front of the camera!
Family Portrait featuring two of our favorites, Jordan and Dew the Dew.
You never know where Josiah is going to be..but just like the rest of these guys, he is always surrounded by something great. It is always a treat when Josiah is town and we were so happy to have him along!
Greg and Trey. Love these boys. (Preciously fashionable as well)
Dustin (above right) is a Wilmy local and UNCW Alumni that is no stranger to the Wilmington Community. Dustin is all over the place with his many talents and is never far from something great. Dustin's newest mission: Vote Against. Serving as Curtis' assistant, Dustin is traveling the state working hard to spread the word about something as great as this project. And this cute couple at the top should win an award for precious. Love you Hannah and Mont.
Everything is better when Jeffery is around. Jeff Vizcaino and I have worked with the same people in theater and the Raleigh Community for years now and I'm always happily but never surprised to run into Jeff when familiar faces start showing up. Jeff is a huge part of the Vote Against Team as the Online Community Coordinator doing a plethora of awesome social media and graphic design work. Another man of many talents. Dont forget handsome Cameron in the top right!
Everyone of every shape and size showed up to support this great campaign.
Since the Vote Against shirt was the staple of today's attire, originality must come from below...see these killer Jeffrey Campbells and plum gentleman's kicks. Shoes are just a gift that keeps on giving. These lovely lady's shoes can be found at Edge of Urge...and so can Dustin's below!

I've got a lot of hope for the state of North Carolina. Together we can Vote Against.

Because we're obsessed.

polka dots and shades.

Posted on 17:39 by kumar
I couldn't wait any longer to take pictures with Sami, especially once I saw pictures of her amazing new bangs.  Luckily she had a few days off of school and was able to make her way to Wilmington.  With only one day of beautiful weather to showcase her fun style, it was crunch time.
We quickly went through her bag and my closet and next thing you know...

MAGiC...

...in the form of a sheer and patterned button down, red skinny jeans, and some fun brown heels.  Both her top and jeans were from forever 21 and the heels were mine from Julie's Boutique in Wilmington.

After seeing the outcome of these pictures, my jaw literally dropped.
We realized we met when she was in 5th grade...seriously?! Where has time gone. It's safe to say she's matured flawlessly.
I'm obsessed with my new cat eye sunglasses with the dramatic studded tips. I checked the mail as we were leaving my house and surely enough they were waiting for me! I could barely wait to get the box open and put these babies on. Immediate obsession. I ordered them off of 80's purple.
Polka dot on polka dot. I wanted to pair Sami's fun polka dot skirt with something from my closet. After spotting this polka dot blouse I got at a consignment shop in Wilmington, I found myself saying,
"Just humor me and try this on."
Taking my attraction to mixed patterns down an even more funky path; I immediately fell in love with mixing two varying patterns of polka dots.

Stunner shades.

Because we're obsessed.
