Street Style in San Francisco: One of Two

Posted on 06:18 by kumar

m- San Francisco. I couldnt have been more blown away by this city. The architecture, the people, the landscape....all SO FREAKING UNIQUE. A few weeks ago, I wrapped up my last traveling conference of the series with  Cisco, in the insanely beautiful city of San Francisco. I was continuously and wonderfully surprised. Although I went to the West coast for work, there was definitely time for play. And play we did.
I cant wait to go back.

At Cisco, we do it right. Our team hosted our final conference form the top of Knobb Hill, at one of the most famous hotels in town, The Mark Hopkins Intercontinental. This was one of the coolest places I have ever stayed. One whole week of THIS comfort? Yes please. And you should see the view...

Over the past couple of months, I have traveled over 45 thousand miles. Two and a half feet of hard, upright  prison may sound glamorous but believe it or not, the styrofoam seats in coach get uncomfortable around hour nine on the plane. I HAVE to dress comfortably when I travel. When traveling, wear something that covers your body, keeps you warm, easy to shed a layer, and have shoes that can be easily removed.
Shoes should also be pretty walkable for stretches between long terminals.

The picture above shows my travel attire for this trip. My short sleeve denim shirt from American Apparel is super comfortable and as equally beautiful as my color knit pullover (Also from American Apparel).
This knit also doubles as an in-flight pillow if folded properly.
The trolly passing by my window
Living on Knob Hill for the week was sufficiently glamorous in Amy's and my book.
Despite the mountain climbing to nearby, SF Boroughs.
Our beautiful bosses, Anly and Wendy, took us down to the Wharf to get some fresh, Pacific seafood at Anly's favorite restaurant in town, Scomas. Holy wonderful Swordfish.
And the wine...(see pictures below)
The Mark Hopkins was the backdrop for the final week of my Americas tour with Cisco. It was so awesome to have a week in this palace of a hotel for so long. We got some great work done but we also got some play time in. In celebration of good work, we ate, and danced our way to the Tonga room.
Down by the bay...where the seafood is unreal.
Our last night with work was spent in the Tonga room. Nestled in the depths of the massively grand Fairmont Hotel, the Tonga Room was one of the most unique and....legitimately coolest restaurants I've seen in a really long time. It rained inside y'all. And some boat sailed through the restaurant sporting a full, 5 piece band.
So what did we wear? ME: Maroon v-neck sweater from American Apparel, chocolate chords from Topman, vintage polka-dot polyester polo and American Apparel jacket to stay warm. AMY: Cute, precious teal blazer from H&M, navy dress, grey wedges and a unique pearl necklace...
These fashionistas blessed us with their presence during our stay on the Bay. Cheryl (left and right) was constantly killing it during our boot camp. She made corporate look GOOD. Cheryl's outfit on the left included a beautiful fur vest, snakeskin purse, and cowboy boots with fur on them. We were definitely out West, folks. Now another lady dear to our heart, Sarah freaking Schultz, is also a fashion queen and ally of f&p. I about fell off Knob Hill when Sarah showed up in this bohemian greatness.
So real, this one.

Amy and I worked hard the first half of the week in San Francisco....but after, it was time to play. More of our Bay Area adventure to come.

Because we're obsessed.

I done almost forgot I had these pictures. A few weeks back, I was traipsing the snowy streets of the Bronx, with some chick named Madeline. She really is something.

Madeline looks just like a Wasteland model with these hip ass metallic sunglasses and neon tobogan. Just add in the gold Doc Martens and BAM....Wasteland model.

Back to the Futuristic Fashion: Wisdom from another planet.

Posted on 17:25 by kumar
This beautiful and strange creature just came down from his time machine from a planet certainly far away. His mission was simple: to take over the people of this "Planet Earth."

Now, this talented specimen was just that. Full of talent, knowledge, wit, and style, this visitor had every skill possible to take the minds of "mankind." And he was about to do it. His hands were armored in sculptures of beauty, each full of secret powers....ready for battle.
His home...this foreign planet, light years away, was also home to masterminds of forward thinking. But brute and anger were natural to their inhabitants.
They always win, after all.
This must be the best way to conquer "Planet Earth"
So, used his talents, he did.

So used his talents, he did. Armed and ready for any encounter.
With a swift movement the mastermind was in front of his first rendezvous- a great tower in the sky.
The deepest wounds are closest to the heart. It was time to inflict the first blow.
All of a sudden something happened. As soon as it felt right, something felt terribly wrong. With a split second of change of heart, color instantly filled the trees, the clouds, and the sky.
Blinded by the beauty of the far away color,
our visitor almost missed the message that appeared before him.
Maybe the sword he brought was not the best way to win the minds of mankind.
So he thought....
and he thought.
How could he be so blinded so quickly?
The lens he had on was all wrong- but he knew all along! For he learned these lessons light-years ago. With all of the years gone by, and great mountains of adventure, he had somehow forgotten.
 But how easy to remember?
Then "The Enlightened One" appeared...
to enlighten, we're sure.
He must have heard something.
Quite quickly, we find that this beautiful creature was sent to the "Planet Earth" for a reason.
To teach us new lessons and to remind others of the things we all know but have also forgot.
To take over this Planet Earth, its much better to blind them with color
than come in deep from the heart.
And he does it all in a bolo tie.  How fortunate we are to have him, this beautiful creature of style.
"It is better to conquer yourself, than to win a thousand battles." -Buddha
