Summer Nails: nails to fall for.

Posted on 11:44 by kumar
c- It's about that time of the year again to ditch the pastels and gear yourself towards the fabulous nail colors of fall! I am a big fan of Orly nail polish.  Their fall collection "birds of a feather" contains a palette perfect for anyone wanting to transition into fall!

As a fan of glitter and anything with a shine, I am currently sporting Orly "Its Not Rocket Science". This makes me smile every time I look down :)

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to Orly, I would highly recommend Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure.  I have found this brand to be slightly easier on the wallet but with the same duration of chip-free nails as the more expensive brands!

What's an at home manicure without a basecoat and a topcoat? If you're going to bother taking the time for an at home manicure, I recommend adding these two steps to prolong the time you can enjoy your fabulous color while avoiding chips!

For years I have been a fan of OPI brands that can be found at most local drug stores. I know this basecoat appears pink, but it doesn't come out on your nails like that! It serves as a natural basecoat that helps hold the color on your nails.

Now for the second most important part of the manicure, the fast drying topcoat! I highly recommend using OPI.

Remember: try and let each coat dry in between in order to enhance your manicure.  Once your nails are almost fully dry, I recommend running them under cold water to speed up the final touches of your drying period.
You are now fully prepared to rock the nail colors we fall for.

Street Style: Brooklyn.

Posted on 18:31 by kumar
m- There aren’t many places in the world with such unique energy and vibes as special as Brooklyn. During my stay in Manhattan, I met up with a long time friend from growing up, Anna. Anna spent the summer in an extra-hip apartment right in the heart of Williamsburg while working as an assistant to a fashion photographer in the city. The stunning view of the Manhattan skyline from Anna’s Brooklyn rooftop inspired us to put some throw-back threads on and take some pictures. The unique aesthetic of this trendy borough undoubtedly made us ready to create.

Whether you want to admit it or not, the 90s are back! Vintage high-wasted shorts and converse high tops paired with an over-sized tee is an affordable and easy way to modernize a newly retro look.

Anna’s striking pink American Apparel dress has a unique shape that really gives Anna kick-ass silhouette. Just pair it with some Urban Outfitter boots and a vintage plaid shirt, and you’ve got a 90s outfit gone good. Nothing like the Empire State Building to paint a picture only New York can provide.

once upon a mountain: Mountainous Style

Posted on 20:11 by kumar
c- A few weeks ago. I was lucky enough to visit four of my beautiful and talented friends in the mountains.  Collaborating with fashionable friends and creative photographers made for a grand time upon the mountain tops.

Meeting up with high school friends is always a blast from the past.  I was more than delighted when Samantha showed up dressed as cute as ever for our shopping trip. Considering it was twenty degrees colder in the mountains that at my normal home at the beach, I found her outfit to be incredibly appropriate.  The skirt brings the feelings of fall, while the strappy sandals and satchel compliment the every day outfit.  I'm a sucker for gray and throwing the vest over her comfortable outfit dresses it up a bit.
Samantha took me around AMAZING vintage shops in the heart of downtown.  I was literally dying at the multiple floors of unique and completely authentic and random keepsakes.  We were having so much with all the props and Samantha was a great model.  Everything in the store had a        story and was different than the next.
HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THIS PICTURE?! I was in love with this hat on Samantha. Amazing.
After a few hours shopping around and exploring this historic town, I arrived back just in time to get dolled up and explore the mountain tops for a photoshoot with my girls.  It consisted of funky outfits, red lips, and fabulous shoes.

I had to capture their outfits on our voyage for the picture perfect spots.  The blue boots had a vibrant pop that stood out in a fantastic way and complimented the skirt for the funky feel.

These beautiful wedges were were purchased from Aldo and perfectly paired with sheer knee high stockings for a boot look.

Fashion Accessories: Changing things up a bit.

Posted on 12:52 by kumar

Headband heaven.
This was purchased at target on sale for $10.

As a blogger newbies, it's been hard to decide how to set this thing up.
We're taking down some of the tabs we have previously had, and maybe adding some new and improved ones.

Accessories can make or break an outfit.  It's a difficult concept to grasp that what you chose to decorate your outfit with can either enhance it orrrrrrrr just the opposite.  Let's just say I'm a fan of accessorizing; and I'm not a true believer in "less is more".
Here are some of the accessories we had before on their own seperate tab, but now they're just going to be a part of the "meat" in our blog. Enjoy!

High-top converses.
Fashion is ageless.
Spectacles and bowties.
Red lips.

Supa fly sneaks.
Michael found these at another consignment shop for only $14.99!

So accessorize people!

wedding photography-atmosphere

Posted on 15:03 by kumar

m- This weekend I was fortunate enough to be a part of the beautiful wedding weekend of Keri and Chris Cowham. It was so fantastic to get to know such wonderful families like the Cowhams and Zollos and I was so happy to photograph this big day. The positive vibes and perfect beachy atmosphere really got me thinking. I found myself adapting my outfits and wardrobe to my surroundings and I found out how great a role atmosphere plays in fashion. Inspired, and ready to edit, I wrote a quick post about how atmosphere has changed the way I look at the clothes I wear. Hope you enjoy!

Fashion. Fashion and I met a couple of years ago on an extraordinarily romantic
three-week trip to Europe. Weʼve been going steady ever since.
Clothing and outfits like Iʼve never experienced in the southern capital of North
Carolina, exploded on the concrete sidewalks of Vienna, Austria. Color combinations
unknown to the uncivilized world paraded through the streets of Vienna as I stared in
awe, mentally taking note of every stitch of these new beauties. Shoes on men and
women alike were so meticulously paired with their partner outfits that an air of
effortlessness exuded from the tip of their ownerʼs toes straight up to their confident
gaze behind their well-crafted spectacles. There was no mistaking that the clothing on
these streets was, and still is, inspired by the unique facades around them.

Thousands of years of history is found in the great walls of Vienna. Palaces of
great kings and queens stretch for hundreds of acres around this massive city. An outfit
may seem insignificant next to these extraordinary walls but it is the exact opposite.
These massive walls are backdrops of great beauty that serve as a reminder of history
in a modern world. In Vienna, I learned that an outfit is oneʼs personal contribution to
this beautiful world that surrounds us. In Vienna, It was like people were paying their
respect to the city that they graciously live-through the powerful medium of fashion.

Atmosphere, I learned, is one of the greatest inspirations in fashion. The
atmosphere that was created by this wonderfully eccentric esthetic that I experienced at
just nineteen years old, was undoubtedly the factor that single-handedly welcomed me
into the world of fashion. There was no turning back.

Summer Style at the Beach: Taste Testing

Posted on 10:52 by kumar

c- We had so much fun making outfits for our photoshoot yesterday.  Michael and I grabbed three of our friends and ventured around our town taking pictures.  It was fun creating different outfits from various color palettes and bringing them all together! Not to mention we had some fabulous models...

Michael is wearing a sweater from Urban Outfitters.
The shorts from american apparel
and his bowtie is vintage brooks brothers.

Talk about shoes for the sole.
These are not only incredibly comfortable, but I found them locally at Julia's boutique in Wilmington. They are the perfect alternative to the typical summer wedge.

Michaels (left) short sleeved button down was purchased at a consignment shop for $4. Josiah (right) is wearing a beautiful light wash denim button down from Top Shop and shoes from Urban Outfitters.

The beautiful Darby is sporting summer shades from Design Archives in Greensboro, NC.
She is also rightfully pulling off the perfect scarf for summer! I love the colors and it's a light fabric that is not too hot for summer.
This scarf can be found at h&m.

I love the cat eye look as a fresh alternative to Ray Bans or Aviators.
I bought these glasses at Top Shop.
Those shoes almost brought me to tears yesterday!
One of the best consignment finds I've had...only $15! The forest green color is very trendy right now and the pump is to die for.  I am also digging loose fitting shirts pulled together with a tight skirt.
If there is pattern on the shirt, it's best to make the bottom a solid color/texture.

Sarah was lucky enough to live in Italy this past spring, and she actually found the shorts and tank top at a boutique in France.  The vest is from Pimkie.  This outfit appears effortless but the color palette and textures are aesthetically pleasing. Brown belts are a fantastic way to hold up high-waisted shorts.
